Since that time the program has evolved into one of the most successful programs of its kind and now serves US military personnel in several countries around the world.

Are prices in the program set
No. That's the advantage of the Military Sales Program: you don't have to negotiate with a salesperson to get the best deal. The lowest prices have already been agreed on your behalf and set in US$, meaning they are unaffected by daily currency fluctuations. No agency within the Military Sales Program may arbitrarily alter the prices. The price you see is the price you pay and everyone pays the same!

Yes, that’s actually how the majority of people place their orders through this program. Provided it is available for the normal BMW range in the United States, you may specify your own color and equipment configuration.
What happens if I need to withdraw
When placing your order, you will receive written conditions regarding the non-availability of financing resulting in a subsequent refund of your initial down payment. The only requirement is that you apply for a loan within 10 days of placing your order so that availability of financing may be established as soon as possible.
What kind of warranty comes
The car comes with a 24-month/unlimited-mileage warranty in Europe and a 48-month/50,000-mile warranty in the US. Both warranties commence on the date the car is first registered. Your local BMW Military Sales dealer can offer additional service packages at extremely reasonable prices.
Will the BMW Full Maintenance Program
This particular program applies only in the US (48 months or 50,000 miles) and does not cover US models driven outside the US. However, this program is available when your BMW is shipped home to the States (providing it still falls within the mileage/time limits).
What shipping options are available
There are two BMW options for shipping to the US. If you have taken delivery of your BMW in Europe, you should take advantage of our home shipment program. Shipment can be arranged either when you place your order or at a later date. Your car can be dropped off at one of several locations in Europe (Germany, Belgium, France, and Holland). From there it is taken by truck to the port of departure and shipped to one of five US ports of entry. Shipping generally takes around four weeks to the East Coast ports and six weeks to the West Coast. Either you or your legal representative can collect it from the port of entry.
For those unable to take delivery in Europe (navy personnel or military members stationed in remote locations such as the Middle East), our US delivery service offers direct shipment from the factory to a BMW dealership anywhere within the US. Please note: this option is not available to military personnel stationed in Germany.
Do all cars sold in this program conform
Yes, not only do they conform fully to US federal regulations, they also fulfill all legal requirements in the state of California.
What should I know about Federal Import
Import Tax is charged at 2.5% of the total value stated on the Bill of Sale. As a general rule the criteria for free (non-taxable) importation, are that the owner must have been stationed abroad for 140 consecutive days and must have taken physical possession of the vehicle while stationed abroad. A copy of official military (PCS) orders must accompany the vehicle and as some US ports of entry stipulate a minimum mileage requirement in order to avoid Import Tax, it is also recommended that your vehicle be shipped with a minimum of 500 miles at the time of import.
The rules may vary depending upon whether you are military, a civilian (GS) or a DoD contractor. If you are unsure, please check with the relevant department or by visiting the US Customs website at
http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/personal_vehicle.xmlWhat should I know about State Sales Tax
As far as State Sales Tax is concerned, it is impossible to list definitive criteria, as each individual state views both rates and liability differently. As a general rule you should expect to pay some form of tax when registering your vehicle in the US. However, as a military person, you may qualify for exemption if the vehicle has already been bought and owned out of state (sometimes for a specified time period); this may also fulfill the criteria for exemption. It's always wise to try to obtain first-hand information from the appropriate local office. For an overview of the various State rates click here then navigate to the relevant section.
Neither the Military Sales Program, nor its representatives will be responsible for any form of tax liability on automobiles imported into the USA. As is universally the case, tax liability rests with the individual and ignorance of the appropriate legislation will not be considered as grounds for exemption.
